Matt and I have been looking for some new things to try on our weeknights. We settled on a stained glass class. The class was a month long, and we learned quite a bit. The first night we learned how to cut the glass. Matt was a natural so he liked to show off how much better his cuts were than mine!
Can you tell whose is whose? #IamBAD
All my practice!
We worked on a practice piece with clear glass first. The white was the pattern I followed. If you look closely, you will see the huge gaps between the pieces which aren't supposed to be there!
And here is Matt's, he's a natural!
The last two weeks we worked on our final project. Since I was really bad we decided to make a joint project. We were late to the class, BIG SURPRISE, so most of the sheets of glass were taken. I think we ended up with some good options though!
Once we got everything cut out, we used the grinder to make everything straight. The above picture took us a little more than an entire session to complete!
The next week we foiled everything along the edges. I thought the copper actually made the design look really good!
Then we got to soldering. He's a pro, and waited the entire class to use this gun!
Almost there!
We added a frame, and voila! DONE!
It is now hanging in one of our windows, and I must admit, it's actually kind of neat.
