Weekend (Pre) Summer Fun

Hi friends! We had the BEST weekend!! It is warming up down here! I had a baby shower on Thursday night for an old co-worker. They had an ice cream bar, and it was delicious! So fun to see old friends again!! Friday I had some open time so I met my neighbor and her little girl at the gym. They have open gym on Fridays for young kids and sometimes I take my clients there. We had such a blast!! We made a quick stop for lunch before heading back to work.

Matt had a happy hour for work so we headed to The Yard on Friday afternoon. It was good food, good company, fun games, and great weather!

We came back Friday night and played a round of corn hole with the neighbors, which is quickly becoming a new Friday night tradition. We had a blast! I hadn't laughed so hard in such a long time! Saturday morning a few of my co-workers and I went to a boutique sale at the owner of the boutique's home. They normally sell their clothes online and sell whatever they have left (at a very large discount) at the end of the season in a large yard sale of sorts. We got there right at the time it opened, and it was BUSY!

We tried on clothes in the front yard for an hour and a half! In the end, we all found some really cute stuff!!! There is also another one at another house next weekend we will probably check out, too!

We got in the pool with our neighbors for a little while Saturday afternoon. It seemed warm but got pretty cold once we got in the water! Afterward, they took us out to their favorite Mexican place. The salsa and guacamole were to die for!! We headed back home for games and pizookies for dessert. These are some of the fun, simple moments I want to remember forever!

Sunday afternoon we attended a birthday party for one of my co-worker's little boys.

We probably had just as much fun, if not more, than the kids!

It was simple, but one of my favorite weekends!

Graduation and Mother's Day

I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend! We made a quick trip back to Nebraska. Matt's brother Andrew graduated from UNL on Saturday. Friday night I hung out with my friend Megan. It was so great to catch up on life with her! Jadyn came down to visit (and let me borrow her car). Jadyn, her friends Maddie, and I drove to Angela's to spend. Although it was short, it was a blast! Saturday we headed to graduation.

The ceremony was three hours, two of which were spent watching the graduates get their diplomas. We passed the time by playing Psych for a while. Matt and I walked around The Haymarket in Lincoln after the ceremony. It was beautiful and has changed so much! We headed to a late lunch at Famous Dave's.

I headed back to Bertrand and spent the rest of the time with my family. Sunday morning we made my mom breakfast in bed just like she gets every Mother's Day!

It was Jadyn's idea to write "MOM" in M & M's.

Nolan got a new handgun for his birthday so we all took a turn shooting it.

It was good practice for me because later in the week I went to Legoland with a family. We played a laser shooting game, and I scored big time!

As per usual, it was a great trip home! The airport opened the new terminal, and it is SUPER NICE! I feel all sorts of classy! We will enjoy spending several more weekends back home over the summer. Hope to see you all then! :)

A Visit from the Murrays

I have been waiting for Patrick and Angela to come visit us since we moved to Phoenix, and last weekend was the chosen date! Patrick had a work conference down here earlier in the week and Angela came down for the weekend. I went to pick up Patrick on Friday afternoon and Matt and I took him out for supper before we got Angela. That night we hung out at our house and caught up on life. We also played a few games of bags with our neighbors and some of their friends in the front yard. One of our neighbors we had not met before came out to hang out as well!
Saturday we hiked up Camelback Mountain. Matt and I hadn't been up there for a while. It's a little bit tougher than our usual South Mountain.

We made it to the top!

They told us they wanted to do all the things we normally do so we happened to spot an open house on Camelback. And when we see a cool open house, we go in! It was probably the coolest open house we've seen. They even had a wine cellar built into the mountain under the house!
We headed to lunch at The Henry. It was the cutest place ever!

The food was amazing, too!

Then we ran over to Matt's office and Patrick pretended he was trading stocks on Wall Street, or something like that...

Then they decided to pull a little prank on one of Matt's colleagues.

...Boys will be boys...

We made a quick stop to one of our favorite places, Bahama Buck's!

And played a round of Headbanz while we were there!

I ended the day with more than this, but 100 floors!?! Yikes!

We took them out to Downtown Chandler that night and showed them around.
Sunday we headed out to Schnepf Farms. First we looked at the animals and really enjoyed the new peacock exhibit!

It was just so pretty!! We picked ourselves a fresh salad and a bunch of peaches which I used to make salsa!

We spent the rest of Sunday playing games and eating! Of course the time went way too fast because they left on Monday morning. It was so great to have them visit. I hope they come back soon!!

Stained Glass Class

Matt and I have been looking for some new things to try on our weeknights. We settled on a stained glass class. The class was a month long, and we learned quite a bit. The first night we learned how to cut the glass. Matt was a natural so he liked to show off how much better his cuts were than mine!

Can you tell whose is whose? #IamBAD

All my practice!

We worked on a practice piece with clear glass first. The white was the pattern I followed. If you look closely, you will see the huge gaps between the pieces which aren't supposed to be there!

And here is Matt's, he's a natural!

The last two weeks we worked on our final project. Since I was really bad we decided to make a joint project. We were late to the class, BIG SURPRISE, so most of the sheets of glass were taken. I think we ended up with some good options though!

Once we got everything cut out, we used the grinder to make everything straight. The above picture took us a little more than an entire session to complete!
The next week we foiled everything along the edges. I thought the copper actually made the design look really good!

Then we got to soldering. He's a pro, and waited the entire class to use this gun!

Almost there!

We added a frame, and voila! DONE!

It is now hanging in one of our windows, and I must admit, it's actually kind of neat.
