Friday Favorites

I haven't blogged in a while. I guess we have been having too much fun to stop and take pictures. I also haven't done a Friday Favorites in a while so I thought I would link up with some other bloggers today to share some of my favorites. Here we go!

Pool Parties

We have been spending most of our weekends in the pool. Last Saturday we went to a birthday party at the base of Camelback mountain. I am so sad I didn't take any pictures because it was GORGEOUS!! We didn't know many people there so it was fun to meet some new friends. Sunday we also hosted our second pool party. This time we invited our neighbors. We had chatted across the street here and there since we moved in but not yet hung out with any of them. I am so glad we were bold and invited them over. We had the best time!! They were over all day and well into the night! They kept us up later than normal. :)

New Work

I recently started picking up some older kids at work (think four and five year olds!) They are so fun!! It is nice to have clients that can talk back to me. And they are also very adorable!

Backyard

Most of you know we added a little patio to our backyard. We have been enjoying it so much! I also know I haven't shared a completed picture of it so I thought this was a good excuse.

Summer

Everything seems to be revolving around summer. Although it is HOT-anything under 110 degrees is starting to seem comfortable-we are finding ways to enjoy it. The pool is definitely our favorite!

Netflix

Well when we aren't in the pool or working we are usually watching Netflix! I would say we are pretty obsessed. I couldn't even tell you what series we are watching because we skip all around.

Hope you all have a great weekend. I'm sure we will be spending it in the pool!

Summer Lovin'

Summer is upon us. We finished our patio!! Here it is.

I guess I forgot to take a picture of what it looks like with our table and chairs. Guess you will have to wait for the next post!
We had a great little visit from my mom and sister, Atlee. They mostly ate and went shopping while they were here! :) I think they also did a little swimming and lounging while I was working. I only took one picture while we were at Bahama Buck's. We were playing Headbanz and having way too much fun!

On this round Atlee was a broom. Matt gave her a hint and said she could often be found in a broom closet. It took another several turns, but she figured it out! (We don't really play by the rules.)
They got here Wednesday afternoon and left on Friday. It was a real short trip, but it was great to see them for a minute!
Saturday we hosted our first pool party.

We enjoyed some time with a few of Matt's co-workers. We had such a great time and ate too much food!

I hope we will be doing a lot more hosting this summer. Hope you all had a great weekend! :)

Summer has arrived!

Summertime is here!! We are LOVING it! We don't have any big trips planned except a nice little week home in Nebraska. Other than that, I don't think we will be leaving the backyard!
Last weekend we spent time putting our backyard together. We made some more progress on the patio. We also shopped around for a table and chairs and an umbrella.

So during the week I took a little tumble and sprained my ankle pretty bad. Of course we chose this weekend to shop around the mall and IKEA!

We found the one we wanted although as you can see I was not much help moving it. We also don't have a vehicle big enough to move it. So we used a little redneck knowledge and hauled it in the convertible! I am glad my grandparents leave this car down here for us!! :) I forgot to take a picture with the table sticking out the back because I really didn't want it to be in there any longer than necessary! We had to make three trips. Luckily we only live a few blocks away from Hope Depot.

Matt also replaced our kitchen sink. It was a weekend full of house projects! We also spent a lot of time in the pool. I am turning into a pool person! We enjoyed lunch on the patio on Sunday.

Tuesday I had an early morning appointment in Phoenix. I realized I was never going to make it with rush hour traffic. Matt and I decided to carpool because it was right by his office. It was so fun!!! I went and picked him up after I was done working for the day and we went house hunting in Paradise Valley. Because who doesn't want to look at gorgeous home at sunset? We even headed out to dinner at one of our favorite spots!

Raising Cane's!

We then helped one of Matt's friends move her things out of her apartment. They ended up staying with us that night, too. It was one eventful Tuesday evening! The rest of the week was pretty chill.
We are spending lots of time outside. This 110 degree weather has nothing on us!

Summer has arrived, and I am so looking forward to it!!

Memorial Day

This is my 100th post!!!!! I was planning on doing something really fun like a list of my 100 favorite things. I began working on it a little late and decided I was just wasting time. So instead, I thought I might as well get to sharing this with you! I definitely have a few favorites to share from this post. One of my absolute favorite things is travelling especially with family. Matt and I went to one of our favorite places-La Jolla! Life is good in La Jolla! So here we go-enjoy my 100th post!

We spent our Memorial Day weekend in San Diego. Last year, we headed to San Diego for some fun and had such a blast we couldn't wait to go back! One of our favorite parts last year was relaxing on the beach in La Jolla. This time we decided to make the beach the majority of our stay. We booked a hotel way back in January (we were a tad anxious) right on the beach in La Jolla. Holy cow did we have fun!!!

First of all, I know I just said I don't normally take picture of hotel rooms. That may be changing as we grow up a little and actually book hotels worth showing off. Yes, this one was a little old, but it was HUGE!!! It was definitely bigger than our past couple apartments. And the best part, it was yards from the beach! Last year we hung out at the beach our room overlooked.

On our drive we experiences a pretty cool sunset near Yuma.

Saturday we woke up to this view.

Matt was sitting on the couch and enjoying the view while watching TV.

We enjoyed a rooftop breakfast with an incredible view.

 It looked like this.

Then we headed over for a hike at Torrey Pines State Reserve. We began walking on the beach. I think this will make a pretty cool picture in black and white. Don't you agree?

The rocks scattered throughout the beach were so colorful which made it so pretty.

We went up to the top and hiked down to the ocean.

We saw some gorgeous views!

There were all kinds of people working out on the beach. I couldn't believe all the bikers around town, especially the ones on the sand.

Eewww!!! Some fellow hikers pointed out a snake!

We got a great view of the Torrey Pines Golf Course.

We headed back to the hotel for lunch. We had a surprise guest!

Then we headed to what we came here for. The beach.

The seals were up and about and ready to play.

That night we went and grabbed some take out from a cute little Mexican place.

So apparently the only times I get over 10,000 steps is when I go on vacation. That's a good enough excuse for me!

We took a stroll along the beach on Sunday morning.

There was an artist out painting.

The seals were out in full force.

Matt had read about a place where a bunch of paragliders took off from. We headed over there to watch them.

There was also a beach close by so we took a hike down to the sand.

We came back to the hotel to enjoy the pool and spa. That night we hung out on the rooftop to watch the sunset.

Monday morning we enjoyed our last breakfast on the rooftop. There were a bunch of kids eating at the same time. One girl became the ring leader to all her new friends. She took it upon herself to feed the famished animals. She came running out of the breakfast place saying, "Let's go feed those hungry birds!" We were laughing out loud!! A few minutes later we overheard her say, "Do you think birds like marshmallows?" My oh my, I hope the birds are well conditioned to human food!
We headed back out to the beach to enjoy our last bit of relaxation. We set up camp and didn't move for a long time.

We took off that afternoon. There are some neat sand dunes along I8 so we took a little stop to check them out a little closer.

We had such a great trip! I think we may end up making this an annual trip. I can't wait for next year!! :)
