Alaska~Denali Part Two

We woke up the next morning to head into Denali National Park.
We stopped for breakfast at Black Bear Coffee House. It was delicious :)

We made it to Denali National Park! We planned a bus tour which took us through the park for some wildlife viewing.

We boarded the bus. It was a little chilly that morning!

The girls were required to sit in their car seats in the bus which worked out really well because Stanton slept nearly the entire time, and it kept Ramsey in one place!

The buses are the only vehicles that can drive the park roads so if you want to see anything in the park, you have to take a bus. We could have driven the first 15 miles in our own car, but there wouldn't have been much to see.

Our first wildlife sighting-moose!

Another clear day to see Denali! That is almost unheard of.

Beautiful scenery!

We spotted a grizzly!

Our driver pointed out that this bear was doing the "berry bob".

I read at another park they like to eat soapberries and may eat up to 200,000 in one day!

Having fun looking for wildlife!

We were about 35 miles away from Denali at this point. It's hard to imagine how big it is, but as you can see all the other mountains in front of it look really close to it, but they are not snow capped and therefore not even close to the same height.

Stanton sleeping peacefully with the beautiful scenery in her background!

Matt spotted caribou down in the river valley!

We hopped off the bus at this spot because it was so beautiful!

We woke Stanton up to go take this picture, and she was not too happy about it! Too bad because the background is gorgeous!

We arrived at our final spot, the Toklat River, and Matt found a way to get some true American photography.

They had an arrangement of antlers out for us to see and Matt decided to pick up the heaviest ones!

We thought if we stood here long enough with Matt just taking pictures of me holding both girls someone would volunteer to take a picture of all of us. The joys of traveling with a bunch of retired Americans!

And we were right!

We headed into the gift shop, read a couple books, and put the girls in some of the photo frames!

And then all of the other adults wanted to put their faces in these, too!

The drive back was along the same road so we had more chances to see some wildlife. Matt again spotted the wildlife! We found this caribou surveying his surroundings at the top of the mountain.

SO COOL!!!

We found some more caribou, but these were pretty hard to see.

We hopped off the bus to catch the last sled dog demonstration for the day. We had to take ALL of our stuff with us which meant car seats and all!

We stopped at the dog kennels for a demonstration on the sled dogs.

Ramsey was really into it.

We learned a bunch!

Then we got to go check out the dogs at their kennels. Ramsey had a blast!

After that we got in the car to head towards Fairbanks and found a moose!

This ended up being the closest we got to a moose on our whole trip!

Such a fun and memorable day! Check back for our next day-Fairbanks!
