Babymoon-Switzerland

 Ah, Switzerland! Matt and I were both most looking forward to our time in Switzerland. We booked our hotel in Interlaken several weeks before we left for our trip. Unfortunately, the weather was not willing to cooperate. We made our first stop in Zermatt, a beautiful mountain town at the base of the Matterhorn.

Technically you cannot drive to Zermatt. We stopped in Tasch and took the train to Zermatt. We bought these stocking hats as we were leaving Italy because we were cold and saw the temperature was only going to drop!

The town was so cute!

We grabbed some soup at a cute little pub and then took a walk around the town. We found a Chalet Heidi so I think we can go back and stay there with my family!

On a clear day, this should have been a gorgeous view of the Matterhorn. It was still pretty without it!

We walked as far as we could to possibly get a glimpse of the Matterhorn but no luck!

On the train back we had an entire car to ourselves so naturally we relaxed!

We headed on our way to our hotel. We got to one spot that we needed to pay a toll which was not uncommon after all the tunnels we drove through in Italy. This toll turned to be well worth it. We pulled onto a railroad car, and I was totally confused!

I thought they just hadn't built a road so we were going to drive along the railroad tracks for a bit, but that was not the case. We pulled onto a train car to be driven by a train through a mountain! It was pretty cool. I can't even describe how surreal it was!

We got to our hotel and were hoping the skies would clear to get the gorgeous view we wanted.

A couple young boys must have been planning to swim on their Switzerland vacation so the next morning they got into the water! They lasted less than 30 seconds so the water must have been as cold as it looked!

Switzerland was so expensive! We ended up eating dinner at McDonald's and picking up breakfast at a convenience store. 

We may have to come back for more at a better time!

We drove into Interlaken to check out the town.

Again beautiful, but we were missing the tops of the mountains.

What we saw was beautiful, but I think we missed some really pretty views. We survived the cold weather and then headed toward Paris. Join me tomorrow as I recap our last stop!
