Weekend in Tucson

Last weekend, Matt and I took a little road trip to Tucson! We both LOVE Ben Rector. We play his music in our house every single day. We saw he was performing at a music festival in Tucson and decided to make a weekend out of it. We took off Saturday afternoon and checked into our hotel. It was gorgeous!

The place was scattered with casitas built along a hill. This was the view from our front porch!

And a look out our back deck!

We took a quick walk around the grounds to check everything out. We made it to Sunset Point right at sunset! How often does that happen?? Obviously not that much because we were the only people there!

It's so crazy how quickly the sky changes in a matter of seconds when the sun is rising or setting.

The entire hotel was laid out beautifully. We feel like we need to go back and just have a vacation at the hotel next time!

That night we took in some of the music festival. There was no schedule printed so we really didn't know what we were getting ourselves in to. We saw David Nail and Billy Currington perform. I have always wanted to go to a Billy Currington concert so it worked out well! We missed Dan + Shay so we were kind of bummed. But the weather was absolutely perfect!!

Sunday morning we woke up and rented bikes from the hotel. We noticed a city trail as we were driving into town the day before so we headed that direction.

I had my breaks completely engaged about 75% of the way down this hill. (no shame!)

The trail was the most beautiful city trail I have ever been on! Those of you that know me well, know that is not hard to beat because I haven't been on too many trails. I did not get the bike riding gene like the rest of my family!

Gorgeous though, right?!

Next we drove up to the top of Mt. Lemmon. It was sunny and 80 degrees at the bottom, and rainy and 50 degrees at the top! We were not comfortable in our shorts!

Matt sent this snapchat out when we got to the top!

There are two little towns at the top, Ski Valley and Summerhaven. I had only been to Summerhaven, but Matt thought we should go check out Ski Valley. They were celebrating Oktoberfest so we enjoyed some yummy chili in the cute little hole in the wall turned German restaurant.

We were both wishing they would have turned the fireplace on! In the winter, this town is a ski resort. Oktoberfest was so cute!

They even had a band donned in German attire playing polka music.

Again, still cold, but loving every second!

We also made a quick stop in Summerhaven to grab a giant cookie from The Cookie Cabin!! On our way down we stopped at Windy Point Vista to take a few pictures. As you can tell, the peak of Mt. Lemmon wasn't the only place it was raining that day!

Then we were off to the music festival once again. It appeared to have rained on and off all day. Shortly after we got there we saw this beautiful rainbow!

So as I mentioned, we could not find a schedule listed so we tried to guess what time everyone would be performing. Turns out we missed Ben Rector by less than 10 minutes!! We were furious!!!! It felt like our entire weekend was ruined! After pouting for a few SEVERAL minutes we realized we still had an amazing weekend. The views were gorgeous and the time together was perfect.
Instead of Ben Rector we got to see Simple Plan. It was not a concert I ever thought I would go to, especially after 2005, but it was pretty good nonetheless.

We ended out evening watching Colbie Caillat!

I guess we will have to keep an eye on Ben Rector's tour schedule and try again. Our first music festival experience was not the greatest in the sense we missed most of the people we wanted to watch, but it was entertaining! Thanks for reading! Have a great weekend!!

Fall=football and crafting

Hello again friends! And just like that, it's been almost two weeks since I have written another blog post. My neighbor Jenny had a brilliant idea several weeks ago for Matt and I to come over all day on Sunday. The boys could watch football, and their daughter Abby, while Jenny and I make cards on her cricut all day! I had that day in my calendar as cricut day for nearly a month!! I was so excited!! In other news, I have been working on perfecting my chocolate chip cookie cakes (more on that in another post). So I made one to take over there, and friends, it was SSOOO fun!!!
We were playing games with our neighbors that Saturday so I showed Jenny the original picture of the cake. Turns out they like frosting as much as we do so I added a bit more to it before I brought it over! For me, you can never have too much frosting!

Matt and Abby had a great time playing outside!

Jenny and Alexa had a great time playing inside!

We were seriously there for 10 hours straight! I had a blast, but I was getting tired at the end. While I was finishing my last few cards, these smiley faces stay on my board!

I thought it was so cute! After 10 hours of card making, here is what I came up with!

And here are both of ours combined!!

It was seriously the best day ever for all of us! We munched on yummy food all day, the girls made crafts, and the boys sat around and watched football. A win for everyone!
On Wednesday of that week, Jenny and I planned another craft night. This time, we went to a local art studio and painted pottery! It was such a blast!! Here is what I came up with.

And I had to take her to Ice Cream Sammies because it was right next door, and how can you refuse cookies and ice cream when they are next door??

Then on Friday we thought we needed more crafting so I went over to make a couple more cards! Three nights of crafting in one week sounds like the best week ever to me!

I picked up our fired pottery pieces the other day. They turned out great!! I LOVE Jenny's Arizona sunset bowl! We will be eating lots of guacamole out of that thing!

And here is a closer look at mine! They had these patterned stamps you could use. There were some really cute paisley ones which is what I tried on my small ring holder plate. It is hard to see, but it turned out pretty cute.

I changed my chalkboard sign for the fall, and added my newest creation next to it!

In terms of looking at regular weeks (i.e.-no vacation, days off, etc.) this one may have just taken the cake!
